My book is ovviously roll of thunder hear my cry. My discussion roll is discussion derector and my quistion is "which charicter are you most like? and why?
My role is the text connector and this story Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry is like a television show i have seen before called monk which is a man who is a detective who hates germs or even a speck of dirt on him and Cassie's younger brother hates when he gets dirt on him and he really likes his clothes to be perfct like the tv character.
In Roll of Thunder hear my cry my job is Literary Lumanary and i have a comment it's..... "I thought it was unfair that the whites pass on the books when they didn't want it because they were worn out so they gave it to the blacks..." Everyone in my group found that offenve and blog back!
my role was disscusion director. my questions were : Why didn't JJ want to tell who burnt the house?, Fromwhat you've read so far,whydo you think thebook is titled "Roll of thunder,Hear my cry?, How would you feel if you were Little Man being punished for something you believe in?why?, Do you think it was fair the condition of the books was distibuted the way it was?, Has one of your parents been away for a long time and you were staying with your other parent?how did you feel in that situation
My role was literrary luminary. I thought that when the bus got stuck, it was funny and a great idea. I thought that "it's them again, they ridin' tinight" was scary. "the moon slid from its dark covers" was an excelent discription. "I could see MR.Morison with a shotgun" would make me tremble just as much as cassie did! At first this book seemed borring, but now I'm realy in to it!
My role for Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry is disscussion director. Some of the questions I wrote were Do you Mama will get mad at Cassie and Little Man? Why or why not? I wrote this because when Miss Crocker talked to Mama, Mama seemed real nonchalant about the situation which made me think that she will go easy on both of them.
my job is text connector for the text-to-self is that t.j. is like my big sister ellen because she likes bossing my little brother and i around and she likes blaming stuff on us my text-to-text is that this is like the book we read in class the southpaw because cassie is stubborn like janet my text-to-world is that theres still racism is still going on in the world for example, theres already been at least 2 assanation attempts on obama
My role was Discussion Director, and ovuassley my book is Roll of thunder hear my cry one of my questions is "do you think the house will chatch on fire since it looks like it on the cover". And anoher question is "do you think he will get his jacket back".
my role was text connector. i connected this book to a different book i read. it was called like the road to freedom or something. but the girl was just like Cassie. except she did something bad and got tooken into slavery. but before that she she was just like Cassie. when she had it in her mind she went for it. her family loved the land. and the other race kept hurting them. just like this book.
my role is text connector and my text to world is this book is racist because it uses very demeaning comments to african americans it uses the n word a lot
My roll is Artful Artist.I drew a line through the box and on each side I wrote 60 years ago... and now.On the now side I drew a classroom with all kinds of different people talking and sharing.On the other side I drew a person crying and being laughed at by a different colored race.The caption I wrote was that 'a lot has changed since 60 years ago and now'.
My role is Literary Luminary. on pages 136-138 is when Cassie beats Lillian Jean to get back at her for having to call her "MIZ" Lillian Jean. I chose this part because I thought it was brave of her to stand up to her like that.
Hiya everyone! Now im discussion director and I’ve got a few Q/A for you! 1.Do you think T.G. will every try to sneak anything else out of Stacey? If so What? 2.What is your opinion on Mr. Granger? 3.How do you think Uncle Hammer afforded his Packard? That’s it! Reply ok?
To EBooth... Ithought it was brave too because i know i would be mad to have to call her MIZ and not get my revenge. I think blacks or ANYONE shouldnt be forced to do that.
my role is text connector.for text to self i wrote: 1.just like stacey i got in trouble at school because the teacher thought i was cheating during a test. 2.there a kids at our school that make mean comments about other people's race. for text to ext i wrote: 1.i watched this movie called "Martin Luther King & me" and it was about racicm just like the book is. 2.there is a song called "sticks and stones" and it's about people getting beating up each other and teasing each other because of their differences. 3.the movie and the book "titanic" is like this book because in the titanic they let the upper class women and children go on the boats first and the menn and lower class people only got to leave if there were enough boats left.this is like this story because they put certain people1st or judge them on their qualities. for text to world i wrote : around the world there are still issues with people and racism. 2.with our new president Barack Obama there are some people that dislike him because of where he came from and his race just like in the story, they are judged on their color. Also text-to-world Hitler killed people who didn't fit his prototype, so that relates to the story because white people picked on blacks because they were not white.
I am answering to ABurgess. if i was little man i would feel that it was unfair to get in trouble for something i believed in just because my teacher was a different color than me.
kodos to gbarrentine for responding this week my role was literary luminary one of the parts i chose was the part where "miz" lilian jean got beat up by cassie this part is surprising because she was being nice to her then she turned comments please:)
My role is text connector. I think that this book is like me because my dad sometimes wakes me up early in the morning to run errands with him. Big Ma did that with Cassie when they went to strawberry. It is like the movie remember the titans because no one liked the African American coach. It is like the world because some people still believe In slavery today!
In response to KDoak 3... I think that Uncle Hammer is hidding something big. Since most blacks don’t make much money, he must have secretly sold something!
My role for roll of thunder is artful artist. I drew a picture of Lillian Jean and Cassie fighting when they were shopping in Strawberry. I chose this because it made Cassie upset and it also made her feel different because the whites can treat her like that. This is also the reason why Cassie beats up Lillian Jean in the woods.
Comment to kdoak. How do you think Uncle Hammer got his car? I think he stole it from a white man. It seems that they wouldn't sell nice cars to the African-Americans because of how they are treated by the whites.
My names Julia. My job was Discussion Director. my first question is, Why do you think Jeremy came out to the Logans to deliver the presents? Would you? My second question was Why do you think Cassie was so rude about it? My third question was Do you feel bad for Mr.Morrison about losing his family in the fire? Why does Lillian Jean think she's so much better than Cassie? My fifth and final question isDo you think the Logans will lose their land?
that no more baths movie i was talking about is a movie about a old black slave that had alot of land and the whites forced him to sell it but some children helped him in court and boycotted the idea by not taking any more baths
my roll is literary luminary. some part i thought were interesting were on page 170 when mr. morrison picked up a truck. i thought that was cool. another part was on page 208 when cassie finds out who started the fire i thouht that was suprising and important. another part was on page 141 when mama lost her job. that was real important. lastly on page 160 when papa comes home with his head shot. that was real unexspected.
My role is text connecter, an the one iam posting is text-to-world and i saied this book is like how our new president Obama who has alot of people wanting to hurt him because he is our president but there is alot of people who do like him. Another is the story that i did for my book report witch was The austishing life of autovian and it is alike because the books both treat the black people like they are nothing and treat them like slaves even though they are free
i am comenting on j hanynes. i think he did something bad to get his car too. people like him don't just get cars. any other money they have people take.
i finished the book. after i finished it i had to sit and think a while. the whole thing happens so fast and the the book is over when you'd think there'd be more.but it leaves you thinking what will happen next.
my role is artful artist. i drew cassie shoving linen jens books in to the mud.i would have not done that. i would have been her freind as long as she was nice
my role is literary luminary and the discription of the text is cassie beat lillian jean then lilian jean said i thought you were a nice girl and i thought it was shocking she said that and because cassie was also surprised and never thought lillian jean would say that
my super awsome roll is artfull artist and I drew uncle hammer riding his packer angerly to the simmenses and i drew this to show that the logans feel varie strongly about racism and will do anything for family.
my super awsome roll is artful artist and I drew uncle hammer riding his packer angerly to the simmenses and i drew this to show that the logans feel varie strongly about racism and will do anything for family.
My role is text connector.For text to self I wrote that 1.last year someone called somebody else a terrorist just because of the color of their skin.The next one is my grandfather in India owns farmland and the last one is people at our school walk to school.For text to text the first one is that some songs have the n word and the second one is that I've read a book about Martin Luther King Jr and how he helped stopped racisam.The last one is that in the newspaper it said that a 5 year old boy got beaten up because he heard the n word and kept saying it in public.For text to world I wrote that the U.S had big problems with racisam 60 years ago.
my role is discussion director and i have three questions for you and they are: 1.why do you think stacey gave tj such an expensive coat? 2.why do you think the school gave the logans such poor books? 3.what would you do if you were in the logans shoes
For cknaus I was also surprised that Lillian Jean said that Cassie was a good girl.At first I thought that she was being sarcastic but,then I relized that the writing was not all tilted and................yeah
my role is literary luminary i was confused when stacey gave tj his coat and uncle hammer did not get really angry when stacey gave tj his present just because kids made fun of stacey i still would not give it away
responding to Aburris on quistion 1. i quite personoly think it was really dum of stacie to give away such a nice coat, not only is it a nice coat its from a relitave you never see and who cares if you look like a fat preacher. it should only matter to you
hey my role is:literary luminary. on pages 160-16 . . . papa came home with a bandage around his head a broken leg and bleeding really bad.these injuries were from being shot by the wallaces. . . i picked this because it must have really been scary and painful for papa and i would have been scared if i was put in that situation
My role for "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry" is discussion director. One of my questions is "what do you think the Walleces will do to Mr.Morrison after they get better"? I think that they will come after and kill him like they killed his family when he was younger. Then I think they will set the farm and house on fire trying to kill the Logans so that they can't tell on them.
i'm answering to E.Booth. yeah i think it was very brave for cassie to stand up for herself in front of lillian jean and her father ;0 i alsos think i would be really mad at lillian jeans father because of him grabbing her arm so tightly :(
Now my role is text connecter and ive got some comments on the story.(obvicious ones)(spelled wrong!) 1. Whites treat blacks like dirt. 2. Whites dont give a fair majority to blacks. 3. They burn the Black's houses down for enjoyment. If anyone has a question for me..You should post it now! XD ~~~Happy Blogging!~~~ (<'_'>)
to Aburgess....I thought that was a little severe for a loss in buisness.Whites must of b een really mean back then. And cruel. And hard to look at..Thx that ppl arent like that to today! Do u know anyone that would freak out in that kind of situation?
i'm responding to a.burris. i think the school recieved such poor books becausev the whites no longer liked them because of their bad conditions so they thought since they didn't like the blacks they should just give them the bad,screwed up books.
i'm commenting on jhaynes=). I feel bad for Mr.Morrison about loosing his family when he was young because he had to grow up without his parents there to help him through the tough spots. i know that i wouldn't be able to get through my life without my parents especially if i had to take care of my sister to.
Iam responding to a.burgess. i would have been scared too. If my dad came home and had been shot i would have done the same thing cassie did. i also think that it would have been really painful to get shot then run over by a wagon.
My role was discusion director. Put yorself in Stacey's shoes,and think about how he feels about T.J.. Would you have given the nicest coat ever to a friend that was begining to turn on you? I knom I wouldn't!!!
Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry Literary Luminary -When Tj was hurt and came to ask for help; ~scary because the white boys had turned on him and you couln't tell what they would do now ~surprising something like that that would happen to T.j. -when Cassie's dad broke his leg and got shot ~confusing since you don't really know if he's dead or dying, and if he did really get his leg broken by the wagon. If so, how did he get shot? -when there was the fire ~scary and surprising (it's a fire!) ~confusing, the fire was just a mass of confusion! You couldn't tell who was who and the black and white folks were all together and you couldn't really tell what color skin they were! ~surprising that they were able to work together like that and the white folks managed to stoop to that level -when you find out that Cassies dad started the fire ~surprising and very interesting, I mean, he set fire to his own crops! Thier main support! It may have been neccesary to stop the white men, but still!
Answering A. Burgess' last question Well, actually my parents divorced when I was really little, so until recently this summer when my dad remarried I was pretty much living with him and definittely went for very long periods without seeing my mom, kind of like Cassie, I guess, but I see her more now.
j dyer! it's not that boring. you need a more open mind if you want to enjoy this. besides, i'd think that everyone would be glad for the break in solid work. in my opinion, I like it! It's a good book and one of my favorite parts of the day!
I completely agree with Kdoak! slavery is inhumane! and everyon e should be treated fairly, no matter what color. besides, you can't tell while blogging!
My role is Literary Luminary. I picked the part when Uncle Hammer comes down to the church on the first day of revival. I chose this because it was suprising to see him especially when he has no car because he sold it to help Mama and Papa pay mortgage (pg.178)
i have discussion director my question is why would mama not want cassie to know what happened to papa if you were a parent don't you think your child derseves to know that your dad was shot in the head and got ran over by a wagon
My name is Julia. My job was artful artist, what I drew was when Mr.Wallce and Mr.Granger came down to the school to fire Ma. I drew about this because I thought this was VERY unfair because no one should be put down because their belifs. I mean if I was supposed to teach with those books I wouldn't either.
My role is text connector 1:text to text I raed a book called the Wastons go to Baminham. The book has the same racism in activity as this story. the olny thing is there is more then one main charactor.
I feel that the moral of this story is that everyone should be treated with the same respect and it doesn't matter religion you practice, how smart you are, and what color your skin is.
this is to jhaynes whatis the school district thinking that the schoolis just there little trash can becouse they can dump the stuff they don't want any more on them that's not right they should be treated better then that. i don't think any body wants to teach with them books:(
I'm commenting on DGravelle's comment to my comment even in the north I doubt even white people could afford a nice car like that it seems like every one was a farmer in the north and anyway I don't think they ever said what Uncle Hammer's job was so how do you know he had one.

ReplyDeleteMy role was artful artest. So I drew Stacey, Chester, and christefer digging up a 20 foot hole in the street while the bus is picking up a student.
ReplyDeletei am answering to A. simpson i agree with you on the book. it was boring at first but now it is better.
ReplyDeleteTo lvoshell I would be chris because I am more of a curious person

Then I think they will set the farm and house on fire trying to kill the Logans so that they can't tell on them.
ReplyDeletei'm answering to E.Booth. yeah i think it was very brave for cassie to stand up for herself in front of lillian jean and her father ;0 i alsos think i would be really mad at lillian jeans father because of him grabbing her arm so tightly :(
ReplyDeleteNow my role is text connecter and ive got some comments on the story.(obvicious ones)(spelled wrong!)
ReplyDelete1. Whites treat blacks like dirt.
2. Whites dont give a fair majority to blacks.
3. They burn the Black's houses down for enjoyment.
If anyone has a question for me..You should post it now! XD
~~~Happy Blogging!~~~ (<'_'>)
for my previous blog i meant to say pages 160-164
ReplyDeleteto Aburgess....I thought that was a little severe for a loss in buisness.Whites must of b een really mean back then. And cruel. And hard to look at..Thx that ppl arent like that to today! Do u know anyone that would freak out in that kind of situation?
ReplyDeletei'm responding to a.burris. i think the school recieved such poor books becausev the whites no longer liked them because of their bad conditions so they thought since they didn't like the blacks they should just give them the bad,screwed up books.
ReplyDeletei'm commenting on jhaynes=). I feel bad for Mr.Morrison about loosing his family when he was young because he had to grow up without his parents there to help him through the tough spots. i know that i wouldn't be able to get through my life without my parents especially if i had to take care of my sister to.
ReplyDeleteIam responding to a.burgess. i would have been scared too. If my dad came home and had been shot i would have done the same thing cassie did. i also think that it would have been really painful to get shot then run over by a wagon.
ReplyDeleteMy role was discusion director.
ReplyDeletePut yorself in Stacey's shoes,and think about how he feels about T.J.. Would you have given the nicest coat ever to a friend that was begining to turn on you? I knom I wouldn't!!!
Responding to C Armon...
-When Tj was hurt and came to ask for help; ~scary because the white boys had turned on him and you couln't tell what they would do now
~surprising something like that that would happen to T.j.
-when Cassie's dad broke his leg and got shot
~confusing since you don't really know if he's dead or dying, and if he did really get his leg broken by the wagon. If so, how did he get shot?
-when there was the fire
~scary and surprising (it's a fire!)
~confusing, the fire was just a mass of confusion! You couldn't tell who was who and the black and white folks were all together and you couldn't really tell what color skin they were!
~surprising that they were able to work together like that and the white folks managed to stoop to that level
-when you find out that Cassies dad started the fire
~surprising and very interesting, I mean, he set fire to his own crops! Thier main support! It may have been neccesary to stop the white men, but still!
getting shot AND getting run over by a wagon?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeletewho IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would not think that would hurt?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
:(
Answering A. Burgess' last question
ReplyDeleteWell, actually my parents divorced when I was really little, so until recently this summer when my dad remarried I was pretty much living with him and definittely went for very long periods without seeing my mom, kind of like Cassie, I guess, but I see her more now.
i agree to everyone of those comments, kdoak the whites treated the blacks like dirt:(
ReplyDeletej dyer! it's not that boring. you need a more open mind if you want to enjoy this. besides, i'd think that everyone would be glad for the break in solid work. in my opinion, I like it! It's a good book and one of my favorite parts of the day!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Kdoak! slavery is inhumane! and everyon e should be treated fairly, no matter what color. besides, you can't tell while blogging!
ReplyDeleteMy role is Literary Luminary. I picked the part when Uncle Hammer comes down to the church on the first day of revival. I chose this because it was suprising to see him especially when he has no car because he sold it to help Mama and Papa pay mortgage (pg.178)
ReplyDeletei have discussion director my question is why would mama not want cassie to know what happened to papa if you were a parent don't you think your child derseves to know that your dad was shot in the head and got ran over by a wagon
ReplyDeleteMy name is Julia. My job was artful artist, what I drew was when Mr.Wallce and Mr.Granger came down to the school to fire Ma. I drew about this because I thought this was VERY unfair because no one should be put down because their belifs. I mean if I was supposed to teach with those books I wouldn't either.
ReplyDeleteMy role is text connector
ReplyDelete1:text to text I raed a book called the Wastons go to Baminham. The book has the same racism in activity as this story. the olny thing is there is more then one main charactor.
i can't belive uncle hammer walked all the wayfrom chicago to mississippi
ReplyDeleteI feel that the moral of this story is that everyone should be treated with the same respect and it doesn't matter religion you practice, how smart you are, and what color your skin is.
ReplyDeletethis is to jhaynes whatis the school district thinking that the schoolis just there little trash can becouse they can dump the stuff they don't want any more on them that's not right they should be treated better then that. i don't think any body wants to teach with them books:(
ReplyDeleteI'm commenting on DGravelle's comment to my comment even in the north I doubt even white people could afford a nice car like that it seems like every one was a farmer in the north and anyway I don't think they ever said what Uncle Hammer's job was so how do you know he had one.
