My role for the Watsons Go To Birmingham is the text connector. For text-to-self I put this story is like school because if a sixth grader is brother, sister, or friends with a seventh or eighth grader, it helps their cool go up and not let them get beat up as much as they would without a family or friends older and part of the cool crowd in school.
My role is literary luminary a funny part in the book is where Bryson was kissing the car mirror and his lips got stuck and when they pored hot watter it frose right up!!!I picked it because it made me laugh alot ha haha. When he came of the mirror he looked like a fish.
The book I am reading is "The Watsons Go To Birmingham" and the point of view is First Person. M job was to be the discussion director. My faveorite question is, how did Byron get his mouth stuck to the car mirror? The answer's easy, it's because he was trying to kiss himself and his lips got frozen since it was so cold! Although I had a whole page full of questions, I chose this one because it reminded me of my favorite part of the book.Haha!
Iam the artful artist and I chosed the part were Bryson was kissing the car mirror cause he thought he was pretty and stuff. Im wondering what everyone else thinks of Bryson.
my role is literary luminary.a good passage i chose is that by kissed his reflection in the car mirror and he got his lips stuck to the mirror.I picked it because i thought it was funny and important.
The book "the watsons go to brimingham" point of view is 1st person because this story is about and told by kenny. If this was told in a different point it would be hareder to understand because you wouldn't be able to tell what kenny is thinking which is a major part of the book.
I am discussion director and some questions I have are why do you think Byron bullys Kenny so much? What was your opinion on the story and why? What would you change i this story why? Do you think Byron is a nice kid? Did you find anything funny? If so what was it?
My role is text connector. This book is similar to my experiences when one time I got my lips stuck on a mirror when it was snowing outside. Eight was also similar to the surroundings because there were eight dogs who were left in the arctic wilderness where they had to survive for nine months. Just like when the Watsons moved into the really cold parts of Michigan
My role is Literarey luminary. A part i thought was funny was when By's lips were stuck to the mirror. It was hilariouse! I dont think anything is funnier than that.
I think byron got his lips stuck to the mirror because he was most likely kissing his reflection ha ha! Because his dad said " he was probably just kissing his reflection in the mirror and his lips got stuck to mirror ha ha ha ha!" response to A welborn
my story is called drums, girles, and dangres pie. my story is told by a first person. I like that it is a first person because it would be very hard to understaned the story because in the biging of the storey is very confusing. if there was a limed omuniset it would not mack sense.
mlewis, I think why Byron bullies Kenny so much because maybe when Byron was little, older kids used to tease and pick on him. My opinion on the story is that it is truly full of exellant details, descriptions, and dialogue. I do not think I would like the story to be changed one bit because it make you keep reading just as you start reading it.
I am the litrerary luminary and I found some pretty entertaining parts. On page four of my book I read about how Moses(hambone) was making up stories about the dad. I think that some people will do anything to get something they want and that this was just one of those situations because Moses wanted to marry the mom too.
A. Welborn this is J Thompkins and i also thought that when Byrons lips got stuck to the mirror was funny to. Some thing that i thought was kinda surprising was that they named the litte sister in the story joey. Do you think you can give me an ansewer for that?
t thompkins, there is nothing funnier and more painful than getting your lips stuck on a mirror. I guess Byron is really in to himself to do something that rediculous.
K Chin this is J thompkins and what you said is not alway true but in this story itas not either because as literarey luminray i think that by is just as imature as Kenny
Some other interesting things were on page 13 when Byron got his lips stuck on the mirror. I thought that was pretty funny because his dad said he was kissing the window and thats how he got stuck. If he was kissing the window he deserved to get stuck.
My role is discussion director. Thins story has been very intresting but I still have some questions. Why do you think LJ trys to steel all of Kenny's dinosaurs? My second question is Why did Kenny fall for all of LJ's tricks if he kenw that he was sneaky? When Byron got his lips stuck why didn't has sister do mean things to him becasue she finally has a chance? Do they have heat in their house? If so why do they have to go to their aunts? And my last question is Why is Byron so mean? Why does he pull all of these tricks? Explain.
Hey I'm responding to Melissa. I can't really answer your first question because I have the same question. My opinion on the story is that it's very intresting and if funny. It's cool how someone in second grade can be a help tp someone in 5th grade. All I would change in the story is about Byron's lips I wanted someone to be mean to him when they had a chance because its time for pay backs!
My role was artful artist and I chose the part where L.J. tricked Kenny into believing that the dinosaurs they were playing with were radioactive and then bury them in the ground so the radioactiveness could ware off. Later that night when Kenny was going to sleep he remembered the dinosaurs so he put on his shoes and ran outside when he went out there they were gone he didnt even bother to tell his mom because he felt stupid so he sat out there on his knees. I wrote about this because i thought it was sad and that Kenny did not deserve what happened to him I also wrote that I would never let that happen to me becausew i would be furious with whoever did it.
My role for this week Text connecter for textworld it was like Gorge Lopes when he had his head shaved because he did something wrong so he got his head shaved.
The Watsons go to Birmingham My role is the discution director. Some of the questions that I have written are Why was Mrs.Watson so uptight about Byron playing with fire? Another one of my questions was Why did Byron cry when he killed a dove with a cookie? My favorit question that I wrote was Who shaved Byrons head and why? The last two questions I wrote were what kind of relationship do Byron and Joetta have? And what kind of relationship do Mr. and Mrs.Watson have?
The Watsons Go To Birmingham My role is literary luminary On pg #83 it said:"i could'nt believe that Byron was starting to cry.i thought it was suprising because how tuff byron really is why would he cry if he threw over 2 cookies at a birdbut also i thought that was kind of funny but no one wants to see a poor little bird cry.#91 "but didnt you know mommy and daddy would find out" ?i thought that if byron wouldnt really want to get in trouble then why would he turn his hair a different color if they were going to find out he cant where a hat everyday even when going to bed.#82 "By just sat there and was chopping on some apples ". if Byron was so focused on eating sweatish cookies then why was he eating apples i thought that was very confusing if he was eating sweatish cookies and then green apples to me that would just me really gross .
A.welborn I also thought this was very funny. Also my role was the artful artist and I drew a picture of By's lips getting stuck. I think he did that because he thought he was so "awsome" and "fantasic" he just wanted to kiss himself. It was even funnier when his mom pulled him off!XD
J.Thomkins I was thinking they probly named her that because there its a baby kangaroo thats called a Joey so mabe her parents thought of her as a cute little kangaroo ^_^ I hope I make scence to you.
My job for this book is the Literary Luminary and I mainly wrote about funny and kinda scary parts in the book. On pages 12-18, Byron and Kenny were scrapping ice off the car and By got his lips stuck to the mirror from kissing his reflection.(haha!) As you can probably tell, i's supposed to be a funny part, most boys don't do that. Pages 72-74 are kinda scary because when Kenny's mom finds out that Byron was playinfg with fire, she trys to scare him and bring out the matches( she almost burnt him to teach him a lesson- but she didn't). Om page #86, it said " Byron was trapped in the doorway, with his right foot in and his left foot out." I chose that because it almost soundes like the Hokie Pokie so I thought that was kind of funny. Last, on pages 86-90, Byron decides to change his hairstyle to a new funcky 'do and his dad gets mad and SHAVES IT ALL OFF!!!!! Picturing Byron being bald cracked me up!
My role is artful artist and I drew the brown bomber becuase it shows how the Watsons were fixing the brown bomber up to go to Birmingham and how Kennys dad bought that record player.
A Welborn i think that when Byron had to shave his head was the funniest thing ever. i can so picture his dad just runing the shaver over his head and all the hair comeing off haha. Also i think that Byron is alot more imature than Kenny for the record
Myrole is literary luminary and a funny partI found was on pg.30 when Larry Dun said about Cody and Rufus "Lord look down on the nappy-headed cornflake the cat done drugged up from mississsippi ya'll" this was funny becasue of the words Larry used hahaha!
My role is the literary luminary and the surprising part of the story was when Wilona said that their dad was going to get some vacation time and they were going to drive all the way from Flint in Michigan, all the way to Alabama where it is hot unlike where the Watsons are living. The funny part was when the parents told Byron that they were dropping him off at Grandma Sands house for the whole entire Summer. The harsh and scary part was when Wilona caught Byron lighting matches again. So she wanted to burn Byron's hand to see how it feels like.
My role is text connector. Some connections I made were for text to self I can relate to Kenny because when I was born my right eye was "lazy" but my eye corrected itself. For text to text this book reminded me of "A child called it" because in both of the books the mom tries to burn the kid because they were "bad." Lastly for text to world I said this is like the world because we have the power to choose right from wrong, also there is peer pressure which I think is what caused Byron to dye his hair.
K chin I think disagree with the staement of Byron being bullied because I think he's just naturley mean. I mean seriously its classic lil brother big brother fighting
I think the mom was so uptight about Byron playing with fire because she does not want her house to burn down and the kids going to school smelling like smoke
B Hill I think that Byron is just realy stupid because he never gets anything through that thick head of his. He almost has to burned, have his head shaved, and now he's being shipped off to Birmingham. When we he ever learn
I'm responding to AWelborn. I agree with you on everything, although I do think Byron deserved to get his lips stuck if he was kissing the mirror also he deserved to get his head shaved if he disobeyed his parents. The suspense was great when his mom was about to burn Byron, I thought she was actually going to do it. I think those were some great things to choose.
In response to Rlust i think that the hambone guy would probably be written up for a bully slip at this middle school. Its such a silly thing to do (make up stories) but its so classic middle school.
My role was the artful artist and im on page.140. The picture that I drew was a brown car passsing a sign that says road I-75 which is on the way to their grandparents house. In the car is 4 windows, in the 1st window is mom and dad listening to music on the new music player, in the second window is joey, in the third window is byron and kenny fighting, and in the last window is all of the food and supplies they will need on the trip.
My book is the watsons go to birmingham 1963. My role is literary luminary and i wrote about 4 different parts one of my parts is the part where momma dad tell byron that he has to go to alabama and spend the summer with grandma sands i chose this part because i thought that it was kind of sad and then again i thought that it was kind of surprising because i would hate for my family to leave me in another state with my grandma and i never thought momma and dad would punish Byron I also chose the part where Mrs.Davidson gave Joetta the (white) angel and Joetta really didnt like it because it wasnt colored and when Mrs.Davidson told her that the angel name was Joetta she took it more offensive and hid it in her sock drawer I have a few questions like if the watsons left Byron in alabama were they going back home or were they going smewhere else? And momma and da said that if things didnt go right they were going to leave him in birmingham dont they mean if things do go right.
I'm responding to BHill and I think that byron started to cry because everything started to set in when he realized that he had to move and theat he killed an animal. He is tuff but he has never killed anything before so there is a first time for everything. He probably dyed his hair because he wanted to be different and didn't care what his parents would think.
My role is text conecter and i think Blisters character traites are skillful because she can walk on her hands, a theif for takeing Tamaras clothes then wearing them, nice because she is nice to people evan if there mean, and bad for being a theif!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my role is text connector.for text to self i said it was like my own life, because my brother is alwys trying to get out of doing his chores.then i usally have to do them.for text to text,i put its like outher storys becase of racisim.i pretty much put the same thing for text to world.
my book is the watsons go to birmingham 1963.my role is artfull artist.this part of the book when ther taking byron to birmingham reminds me about the longest trip i ever took.
My role for the watsons go to brimingham is text connector.A question I have about the story is why was Byron so mad about the family being on well fair and how come joey protects byron when every thing he does is going to get in trouble.
My role is discussion directer.the question I thought was most important was "what do you think will happen next and why".well at the end I think Kenny when he gets about 2 years later will give Byron a taste of his own medicine like at the beggining when Byron thru the snow ball at byron one day kenney will just wack Byron right in his mouth
My role was Literary Luminary and my first part I picked was on pages 146-147 and was this. "By, do you think there are snakes out here?" "snakes? I ain't scared of no damn snake,it's the people I'm worried about." "What people?" "Didn't you heare Momma say this was Appalachia?" "So?" "Man they got crackers and red necks up here that ain't never seen no negroes before. If they caught your ass out here like this they'd hang you now, then eat you later." "What's a redneck?" "A hill billy. only worse. some of 'em don't even speak English." we made a break for the Brown Bomber. I went to fast and felt a couple of warm drips dribbling down my leg. I picked this because I thought it was funny. I especially thought the pee dribbling down Kenny's leg was funny.
Text-to-self=how this book related to my own like was my sister and I fight but unlike byron and kenny byron does physical things to kennybut with me and my sister we just may yell back and forth but not hit or anything like that. The next day we would forget about the fight in the first place unlike byron who always will be a punk. Text-to-text=how this book relates to another book that i have read is when i was reading junie B. jones she was learning she cant do things wrongor there will be some punishment made .but unlike her grandpa he is to old to give punishments so she would get in trouble with her parents when they get home. Text-to-world=this story is like world wide events in the world is because there punishments is just like the punishmets that the kids get if they do anything wrong like if someone in real life did something terrible there punishmet woulfd be jail but in the story byrons punishmet is to stay with grandma sands.
I am doing dicussion directer a question I thought of was who do you think Mr. Roberts was?I wonder who he is.Maybe it's grandama Sands boyfriend who knows?
im responding to Khammel i think u are not right about byron he never felt a real pain about an animal like that it was just asonishing to see right there he would start crying in front of kenny after he says all the time how much he hates him so much he would just cry .but i have another question for u .why do u think byron is scared of her?she seems so sweet and nice and nothing seems to be wrong so far.
I am responding to Jbragdon if u thought it was so sad that byron was leaving to birmingham do u think he deserved that bad punishment?and do u think grandma sands would be as bad as byron explains her?why or why not
im responding to Jthompkins so unlike Jbragdon u were happy with byron leaving and going to birmingham and not mad or sad about it.why do u feel that way.but also i have another question for u do u feel like u dislike byron the most because of the way u acted .why or why not
My role is the Literary Luminary. My favorit one that I had to do was on page 175 where Kenny wanted some adventure and went to the lake where 6 lives were lost by the wool pooh. I picked this one because it was scarry and surprising because I never would of thuought that kenny would go knowing the risks of drowning.
Im responding to Kchin i was just wondering how did your lips get stuck on the mirror and was it a major issue or was something that your parents and u were really just scared about and u werent sure if u were ever going to get your lips off. Also i saw a movie (dont remember name) that a little boy was dared to stick his tounge out on a frozen tree at recess and they were supose to go in the class room and the bell rang and he was stuck then ended up with ambulance getting around and fire men it was a big deal to them
im responding to Khammel im sorry on the other responce i did agree with u i just was typeing to fast enough to see what i was typing but icompletely agree with u that he was just shocked that he killed the bird and thats why he was crying. But then again he was oviously meaning to hurt the bird he aimed stright for it and then when he was looking at it he crys i just dont understand that i thought that he was just sick of the sweatish cookies and green apples
my role is artful artist. I drew a picture of kenny's grandma sandy, because as I read though the story she apeared more and more. Untill she finaly reavealed herself.when she did it was so descriptive that a picture of her was painted in my mind.
B.Hill Im thinking Byron thought it was wrong to kill the bird but he had thought he would miss it or the bird would fly away. I really dont think he ment to not that much at lest (spelled right?) I also think he thew up (or down lol a little humor) because he hit the bird and it died because of his and because of the sweetish cookies and because of the apples he ate. What I dont get is why didnt he let Kenny comfort him? Is it because hes to "tough"? <.< (Wow I wrote alot)
jdavidson in responce to your comment I would like to say that I to was reminded of a long trip that I took.like kenny, I to tried to stay awake, but it was imposible.I kept drifting in and out of sleep.also I to was traveling to my grandma's house.
In responce to D.Spence I think Joey pertects Byron because she loves him and doesn't want him to get hurt, and I'd bet she'd do the same thing if Kenny were to do that stuff
Me again :P I really have this question Ive been dying to ask. Why did the watsons leave to Bermingham in the MIDDLE of the book??? @_@ very confusing....
my roll is text connecter and for text to self i know how Joey feels because i have to brothers that are a pain in the butt! HAHAHA!For text to text I read this book in third grade called Ruby and she was in the middle of segragation and people were being races towards the black people. For text to world there are alot of racism acts going on like people are thinking Barack Obama is a bad president just because he is African-American.
To J. Thompkins It is K. chin and my role is disccusion director as you now know. My questions I would like to ask are: Why do you think Byron told Kenny about the Wool Pooh? Does it seem like Grandma Sands dislikes Byron? Why or why not? Who or what did you really think pulled Kenny down into the water?
I am reading the book "the Watsons go to bringingham" and my role sheet is the litery luminery. On page 183-206 when the bomb is dropped on joey's chruch i thought that was definatly a scary part. What would have happend if joey had died? I don't even like to think about it!
my role is literary luminary and my book is the watsons go to birmingham. my comments were mr watson was disobeying his wife, because ms watson has very crule punishment. my next one is byron threw a rotton apple at kenny and said "get the @!$* out of here" I put this was funny. my last one was "mile a minute" I put this down because the auther used that line way too much.
My role is discussion director. Some questions I have are How do you think Kenny felt when he was drownding, Why? What would you have done if you were in Kenny's situation and had to choose to do either right or wrong, why? What was your reaction when Joey's church was bombed, why do you think you reacted this way? Would you have wanted to be Kenny and see all of the ruble from the bombed church knowing someone from your family was inside? Why do youthink Kenny started living behind the couch after the bombing?
My role is txt connecter and I connected when Kenny was pulled under water by the "wool poo" to my life because kinda that same thing happened to me at a pool party. I went under water and someone did a cannon ball and landed on me sending me t the bottom of the pool.......it hurt hahaha.
I agree with you A. Thomas when you say that it was scary when Wilona was going to burn Byron's whole hand for catching him lighting matches again. But do you really know why Byron got nicer at the end of the story?
Kchin I think what pulled kenny under the water was not the wool poo it was simply his over stressed mind seeing things. I mean i think i'd see weird things too if i was in his position. And i think grama sands love byron. byron just made up this "wool poo" story to freak kenny and joey out.
To J. Thompkins It is me, K.Chin, and I had the same exact experience at the beach when a strange kind of fish mistaken my foot as a smaller fish and grasped me and anchored me all the way down to the bottom of the ocean.
i am responding to A.Thomas. the auther had the watsons go to birmingham in the middle of the book because that is the climax and the climax doesn't come first.
In response to a.thomas i think the Watsons left when they did because let's face it, not alot of interesting things were happening back at home. It was the same thing going on over and over again, Byron doing somthing silly and the parents getting mad. Byron would get in trouble and something funny would happen. I think that when they went to bringingham all the excitment started.
a wearden I think that was scary too. If joey was my little sis and that hapened to her I dont know what I'd do. And how Kenny saw those 2 girls on the lawn of what use to be the church....that was so sad thinking of littl girls being covered in soot and ash.
K chin i have a correction for you. Wilona was NOT i repeat NOT going to burn Byron's whole hand. She was just gona burn his pointer finger. And if that was me, by the time wilona came over to burn me the match would have bin out from me crying so bad hahaha
I am responding to A. Thomas. It is not really confusing when th Watsons go to Birmingham in the MIDDLE of the story because it wouldn't be a very good ending when they go to Alabama and the author does not write about what they do there.
In response to Kchin i think byron got nicer at the end of the story because he didn't want to have to spend the school year at his grandmothers. If i were away from my friends that long i'd start doing whatever i could to get back, A.S.A.P! What would you do?
Mlewis i agree with your statement on mr. roberts being grama sands being boy freind. But at the same time maybey they could just be good freinds what do you think?
Cklaus I agree with "mile a mineute" being used to much and something that I noticed that kenny used alot was "he might as well said ready, aim, fire" it got boaring after a while
i am responding to M.Lewis. I have read the book called Ruby too and I think it is dissapointing how many people are prejudice against one another in an act so violent that it changed the order of things in the life of a normal citizen of the United states.
To answer Rlust's question i think that if Byron, the "offical juvinial deliquent", thought something was too dangerous i'd back off. It's common sense. There was a sign that said "DO NOT SWIM HERE, 6 PEOPLE DROWEND"! It can't get more obvious than that.
AThomas its me JThompkins I bet you know me :P hahahaha. Well i think that was very confusing too. I mean they could have done so much more cool stuff in the story if they left earlyer in the book. It was like they were killing time hmm weird
In response to jtompkins i wanted to say LOL! Did it really feel like you were drowning?I had a friend that couldn't swim and she jumped off the side into the deep end and she almost drowend. Thankfuly it wasn't a very deep pool.
My role was literary Luminary and right now im on page 190. On page 72 it says "WARNING!DANGER!NO SWIMMING!SIX PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LOST HERE!BAD DROP OFF!" I think it's funny that Kenny doesn't listen because of all the stories he has heard! After this experience do you think he will do it again! Why or Why not?
My book is "The Watsons go to Birmingham" my role is text connector and for text to self I wrote about my family experience because my brother got in trouble so many times that my mom signed custody over to my grandma, like momma and dad did with Byron but hes just staying for the summer and how my brother got kicked out of Caeser Rodney school district and he goes to school from my grandmas house. I wrote about this part because it reminded me of the experience I had with my brother and the rest of my family. I think that I am really starting to understand the moral of this book.
My role is discussion director. One of my quistions was, when they went to go fishing at their grannys why did Kenny go the opitsite way? i think it was because he was trying to be cool and act tuff.
Im responding to A.Thomas. I also thought it was funny when momma burnt his finger because of re-making a movie! When she said she would burn him i thought that she really wouldnt and just scare him, but i was wrong.
My role is the artful artist, and what I drew was grandma Sands. The reason why I drew grandma Sands is because,Kenny was talking about how Byron said that grandma Sands had looked like a troll. When grandma Sands came out,she really looked like that she had wrinkles all over her,she was really skinny, and that she had a cane because, she had a stroke once.
Im responding to J.Bragdon. Its really cool how you can relate to your own life and i know your not lieing because you tell me about it during chorus. :)
Im responding to J.Bragdon. Its really cool how you can relate to your own life and i know your not lieing because you tell me about it during chorus:)
in responce to aparone,i think i would of drawn the sane thing.also from the sound of what they say in the story she is real old.i think that the autor gave good discription and it gave me a good picture.
In response to J.Thompkins.when I was in Michigan and it was the summer time and my family and I were in a pool,my brother started to hang on me,and I started to drown so,I flew backwards to make him drown
Blue 6 Bloggers! Welcome to your first class blog. I invite and encourage you to do your best, share your ideas and thoughts and have fun learning as you blog!
ReplyDeleteMy role is literary luminary a funny part in the book is where Bryson was kissing the car mirror and his lips got stuck and when they pored hot watter it frose right up!!!I picked it because it made me laugh alot ha haha. When he came of the mirror he looked like a fish.

ReplyDeleteMy role is discussion director. Explain.
ReplyDeleteHey I'm responding to Melissa.
ReplyDeleteMy role was artful artist and I chose the part where L.J. tricked Kenny into believing that the dinosaurs they were playing with were radioactive and then bury them in the ground so the radioactiveness could ware off.
ReplyDeleteMy role for this week Text connecter for textworld it was like Gorge Lopes when he had his head shaved because he did something wrong so he got his head shaved.
ReplyDeleteThe Watsons go to Birmingham
ReplyDeleteMy role is the discution director.
The Watsons Go To Birmingham
ReplyDeleteMy role is literary luminary
On pg #83 it said:"i could'nt believe that Byron was starting to cry.i thought it was suprising because how tuff byron really is why would he cry if he threw over 2 cookies at a birdbut also i thought that was kind of funny but no one wants to see a poor little bird cry.#91 "but didnt you know mommy and daddy would find out" ?i thought that if byron wouldnt really want to get in trouble then why would he turn his hair a different color if they were going to find out he cant where a hat everyday even when going to bed.#82 "By just sat there and was chopping on some apples ". if Byron was so focused on eating sweatish cookies then why was he eating apples i thought that was very confusing if he was eating sweatish cookies and then green apples to me that would just me really gross .
A.welborn I also thought this was very funny.
ReplyDeleteAlso my role was the artful artist and I drew a picture of By's lips getting stuck. I think he did that because he thought he was so "awsome" and "fantasic" he just wanted to kiss himself. It was even funnier when his mom pulled him off!XD
J.Thomkins I was thinking they probly named her that
ReplyDeletebecause there its a baby kangaroo thats called a Joey so mabe her parents thought of her as a cute little kangaroo ^_^ I hope I make scence to you.
ReplyDeleteJ Tompkins, it's me, AWelborn, and I also thought it was funny and they ARE both immature. I have the same job as you too!
ReplyDeleteMy role is artful artist and I drew the brown bomber becuase it shows how the Watsons were fixing the brown bomber up to go to Birmingham and how Kennys dad bought that record player.
ReplyDeleteA Welborn i think that when Byron had to shave his head was the funniest thing ever. i can so picture his dad just runing the shaver over his head and all the hair comeing off haha. Also i think that Byron is alot more imature than Kenny for the record
ReplyDeleteMy role is discussion director and a question I have for you A Thomas and A welborn is why do you think Byron didnt want to use the outhouse?
ReplyDeleteMyrole is literary luminary and a funny partI found was on pg.30 when Larry Dun said about Cody and Rufus "Lord look down on the nappy-headed cornflake the cat done drugged up from mississsippi ya'll" this was funny becasue of the words Larry used hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI thought when Byron's lips got stuck to the car was very funny. I mean who does that. Its like the funniest thin i've ever heard hahaha
ReplyDeleteMy role is the literary luminary and the surprising part of the story was when Wilona said that their dad was going to get some vacation time and they were going to drive all the way from Flint in Michigan, all the way to Alabama where it is hot unlike where the Watsons are living. The funny part was when the parents told Byron that they were dropping him off at Grandma Sands house for the whole entire Summer. The harsh and scary part was when Wilona caught Byron lighting matches again. So she wanted to burn Byron's hand to see how it feels like.
ReplyDeleteMy role is text connector.
ReplyDeleteK chin I think disagree with the staement of Byron being bullied because I think he's just naturley mean. I mean seriously its classic lil brother big brother fighting
ReplyDeleteI think the mom was so uptight about Byron playing with fire because she does not want her house to burn down and the kids going to school smelling like smoke
ReplyDeleteResponse to LGravette
B Hill I think that Byron is just realy stupid because he never gets anything through that thick head of his. He almost has to burned, have his head shaved, and now he's being shipped off to Birmingham. When we he ever learn
ReplyDeleteI'm responding to AWelborn.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Rlust i think that the hambone guy would probably be written up for a bully slip at this middle school. Its such a silly thing to do (make up stories) but its so classic middle school.
ReplyDeleteMy role was the artful artist and im on page.140.
ReplyDeleteMy book is the watsons go to birmingham 1963.
ReplyDeleteI'm responding to BHill and I think that byron started to cry because everything started to set in when he realized that he had to move and theat he killed an animal. He is tuff but he has never killed anything before so there is a first time for everything. He probably dyed his hair because he wanted to be different and didn't care what his parents would think.
ReplyDeleteMy role is text conecter and i think Blisters character traites are skillful because she can walk on her hands, a theif for takeing Tamaras clothes then wearing them, nice because she is nice to people evan if there mean, and bad for being a theif!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletemy role is text connector.for text to self i said it was like my own life, because my brother is alwys trying to get out of doing his chores.then i usally have to do them.for text to text,i put its like outher storys becase of racisim.i pretty much put the same thing for text to world.
ReplyDeletemy book is the watsons go to birmingham 1963.my role is artfull artist.this part of the book when ther taking byron to birmingham reminds me about the longest trip i ever took.
ReplyDeleteMy role for the watsons go to brimingham is text connector.A question I have about the story is why was Byron so mad about the family being on well fair and how come joey protects byron when every thing he does is going to get in trouble.
ReplyDeleteMy role is discussion directer.the question I thought was most important was "what do you think will happen next and why".well at the end I think Kenny when he gets about 2 years later will give Byron a taste of his own medicine like at the beggining when Byron thru the snow ball at byron one day kenney will just wack Byron right in his mouth
ReplyDeleteMy role was Literary Luminary and my first part I picked was on pages 146-147 and was this. "By, do you think there are snakes out here?"
ReplyDelete"snakes? I ain't scared of no damn snake,it's the people I'm worried about."
"What people?"
"Didn't you heare Momma say this was Appalachia?"
"So?"
"Man they got crackers and red necks up here that ain't never seen no negroes before. If they caught your ass out here like this they'd hang you now, then eat you later."
"What's a redneck?"
"A hill billy. only worse. some of 'em don't even speak English."
we made a break for the Brown Bomber. I went to fast and felt a couple of warm drips dribbling down my leg.
I picked this because I thought it was funny. I especially thought the pee dribbling down Kenny's leg was funny.
The watsons go to birmingham
ReplyDeleteText-to-self=how this book related to my own like was my sister and I fight but unlike byron and kenny byron does physical things to
kennybut with me and my sister we just may yell back and forth but not hit or anything like that.
ReplyDeleteim responding to Khammel i think u are not right about byron he never felt a real pain about an animal like that it was just asonishing to see right there he would start crying in front of kenny after he says all the time how much he hates him so much he would just cry .but i have another question for u .why do u think byron is scared of her?she seems so sweet and nice and nothing seems to be wrong so far.
ReplyDeleteI am responding to Jbragdon if u thought it was so sad that byron was leaving to birmingham do u think he deserved that bad punishment?and do u think grandma sands would be as bad as byron explains her?why or why not
ReplyDeleteim responding to Jthompkins so unlike Jbragdon
ReplyDeleteu were happy with byron leaving and going to birmingham and not mad or sad about it.why do u feel that way.but also i have another question for u do u feel like u dislike byron the most because of the way u acted .why or why not
The Watsons go to Birmingham
ReplyDeleteMy role is the Literary Luminary. My favorit one that I had to do was on page 175 where Kenny wanted some adventure and went to the lake where 6 lives were lost by the wool pooh. I picked this one because it was scarry and surprising because I never would of thuought that kenny would go knowing the risks of drowning.
Im responding to Kchin
ReplyDeletei was just wondering how did your lips get stuck on the mirror and was it a major issue or was something that your parents and u were really just scared about and u werent sure if u were ever going to get your lips off. Also i saw a movie (dont remember name) that a little boy was dared to stick his tounge out on a frozen tree at recess and they were supose to go in the class room and the bell rang and he was stuck then ended up with ambulance getting around and fire men it was a big deal to them
To J Thompkins I toatly agree with you hey my brother and I always fight all the time.
ReplyDeleteim responding to Khammel
ReplyDeleteim sorry on the other responce i did agree with u i just was typeing to fast enough to see what i was typing but icompletely agree with u that he was just shocked that he killed the bird and thats why he was crying. But then again he was oviously meaning to hurt the bird he aimed stright for it and then when he was looking at it he crys i just dont understand that i thought that he was just sick of the sweatish cookies and green apples
Hi my role was Literary Luminary. I put the part were Byrons mom was going to burn his finger and I thought it was really scary!
ReplyDelete>_<
I also thought it was funny when Byron's hair was all shaved off! And I was like "whoa!"
ReplyDelete:O lol
My role is discusoin director and one question I had was "why do you think Kenny didn't listen to grandma Sanda and went swimming in colliers landing?
ReplyDeletemy role is artful artist. I drew a picture of kenny's grandma sandy, because as I read though the story she apeared more and more. Untill she finaly reavealed herself.when she did it was so descriptive that a picture of her was painted in my mind.
ReplyDeleteB.Hill Im thinking Byron thought it was wrong to kill the bird but he had thought he would miss it or the bird would fly away.
ReplyDeletejdavidson in responce to your comment I would like to say that I to was reminded of a long trip that I took.like kenny, I to tried to stay awake, but it was imposible.I kept drifting in and out of sleep.also I to was traveling to my grandma's house.
ReplyDeleteVery photographic mind so'steen. Im impressed.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was artful artist I drew a picture of
Byron my fav character. ^_^
In responce to D.Spence I think Joey pertects Byron because she loves him and doesn't want him to get hurt, and I'd bet she'd do the same thing if Kenny were to do that stuff
ReplyDeleteMe again :P I really have this question Ive been dying to ask. Why did the watsons leave to Bermingham in the MIDDLE of the book???
ReplyDelete@_@ very confusing....
a.thomas in responce to your comment.I would like to say that I thoght it was realy funny when byron's dad kept making jokes about his bald head.
ReplyDeleteso'steen Oh yeah I remember that! lol! Rememer
ReplyDeletewhen Byron's mom was about to burn his finger?
Scary...... -_-'
my roll is text connecter and for text to self i know how Joey feels because i have to brothers that are a pain in the butt! HAHAHA!For text to text I read this book in third grade called Ruby and she was in the middle of segragation and people were being races towards the black people. For text to world there are alot of racism acts going on like people are thinking Barack Obama is a bad president just because he is African-American.
ReplyDeleteim responding to bhill. I dont think i hate Byron but I think he can be ignorant. so he does deserve to go to birmingham to learn his lesson
ReplyDeleteTo J. Thompkins
ReplyDeleteIt is K. chin and my role is disccusion director as you now know. My questions I would like to ask are:
Why do you think Byron told Kenny about the Wool Pooh?
Does it seem like Grandma Sands dislikes Byron? Why or why not?
Who or what did you really think pulled Kenny down into the water?
I am reading the book "the Watsons go to bringingham" and my role sheet is the litery luminery. On page 183-206 when the bomb is dropped on joey's chruch i thought that was definatly a scary part. What would have happend if joey had died? I don't even like to think about it!
ReplyDeletemy role is literary luminary and my book is the watsons go to birmingham. my comments were mr watson was disobeying his wife, because ms watson has very crule punishment. my next one is byron threw a rotton apple at kenny and said "get the @!$* out of here" I put this was funny. my last one was "mile a minute" I put this down because the auther used that line way too much.
ReplyDeleteMy role is discussion director.
ReplyDeleteresponse to DDebloois I think Mr.Roberts is Grandma Sands boyfriend too maybe thats why she kept saying 'lona why do you want to know so bad?' HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteMy role is txt connecter and I connected when Kenny was pulled under water by the "wool poo" to my life because kinda that same thing happened to me at a pool party. I went under water and someone did a cannon ball and landed on me sending me t the bottom of the pool.......it hurt hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you A. Thomas when you say that it was scary when Wilona was going to burn Byron's whole hand for catching him lighting matches again. But do you really know why Byron got nicer at the end of the story?
ReplyDeleteKchin I think what pulled kenny under the water was not the wool poo it was simply his over stressed mind seeing things. I mean i think i'd see weird things too if i was in his position. And i think grama sands love byron. byron just made up this "wool poo" story to freak kenny and joey out.
ReplyDeleteTo J. Thompkins
ReplyDeleteIt is me, K.Chin, and I had the same exact experience at the beach when a strange kind of fish mistaken my foot as a smaller fish and grasped me and anchored me all the way down to the bottom of the ocean.
i am responding to A.Thomas. the auther had the watsons go to birmingham in the middle of the book because that is the climax and the climax doesn't come first.
ReplyDeleteIn response to a.thomas i think the Watsons left when they did because let's face it, not alot of interesting things were happening back at home. It was the same thing going on over and over again, Byron doing somthing silly and the parents getting mad. Byron would get in trouble and something funny would happen. I think that when they went to bringingham all the excitment started.
ReplyDeletea wearden I think that was scary too. If joey was my little sis and that hapened to her I dont know what I'd do. And how Kenny saw those 2 girls on the lawn of what use to be the church....that was so sad thinking of littl girls being covered in soot and ash.
ReplyDeleteresponse to everyone who puts Bryson it is BYRON!
ReplyDeleteK chin i have a correction for you. Wilona was NOT i repeat NOT going to burn Byron's whole hand. She was just gona burn his pointer finger. And if that was me, by the time wilona came over to burn me the match would have bin out from me crying so bad hahaha
ReplyDeleteI am responding to A. Thomas. It is not really confusing when th Watsons go to Birmingham in the MIDDLE of the story because it wouldn't be a very good ending when they go to Alabama and the author does not write about what they do there.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Kchin i think byron got nicer at the end of the story because he didn't want to have to spend the school year at his grandmothers. If i were away from my friends that long i'd start doing whatever i could to get back, A.S.A.P! What would you do?
ReplyDeleteMlewis i agree with your statement on mr. roberts being grama sands being boy freind. But at the same time maybey they could just be good freinds what do you think?
ReplyDeleteCklaus I agree with "mile a mineute" being used to much and something that I noticed that kenny used alot was "he might as well said ready, aim, fire" it got boaring after a while
ReplyDeletei am responding to M.Lewis. I have read the book called Ruby too and I think it is dissapointing how many people are prejudice against one another in an act so violent that it changed the order of things in the life of a normal citizen of the United states.
ReplyDeleteTo answer Rlust's question i think that if Byron, the "offical juvinial deliquent", thought something was too dangerous i'd back off. It's common sense. There was a sign that said "DO NOT SWIM HERE, 6 PEOPLE DROWEND"! It can't get more obvious than that.
ReplyDeleteI am talking to everyone when I say this. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO BELIEVES THAT BYRON IS A BAD SEED!?
ReplyDeleteAThomas its me JThompkins I bet you know me :P hahahaha. Well i think that was very confusing too. I mean they could have done so much more cool stuff in the story if they left earlyer in the book. It was like they were killing time hmm weird
ReplyDeleteresponse to mlewis. I feel your pain, I have a brother too and he is younger he gets whatever he wants and its anoying
ReplyDeleteresponse to RLust i think Kenny was hiding behind the couch after the bobming because he thought magical powers were going to save him.
ReplyDeleteto R.lust i think that i would feel horrible and lost from the misery, and by the way great detail!
ReplyDeleteIn response to jtompkins i wanted to say LOL! Did it really feel like you were drowning?I had a friend that couldn't swim and she jumped off the side into the deep end and she almost drowend. Thankfuly it wasn't a very deep pool.
ReplyDeleteMy role was literary Luminary and right now im on page 190.
ReplyDeleteI'm responding to B.Hill.Don't feel bad because me and y sister fight too! And I can relate to you about junie b jones because i have read that too!!!
ReplyDeleteMy book is "The Watsons go to Birmingham" my role is text connector and for text to self I wrote about my family experience because my brother got in trouble so many times that my mom signed custody over to my grandma, like momma and dad did with Byron but hes just staying for the summer and how my brother got kicked out of Caeser Rodney school district and he goes to school from my grandmas house. I wrote about this part because it reminded me of the experience I had with my brother and the rest of my family. I think that I am really starting to understand the moral of this book.
ReplyDeleteMy role is discussion director. One of my quistions was, when they went to go fishing at their grannys why did Kenny go the opitsite way? i think it was because he was trying to be cool and act tuff.
ReplyDeleteIm responding to A.Thomas. I also thought it was funny when momma burnt his finger because of re-making a movie! When she said she would burn him i thought that she really wouldnt and just scare him, but i was wrong.
ReplyDeleteMy role is the artful artist, and what I drew was grandma Sands. The reason why I drew grandma Sands is because,Kenny was talking about how Byron said that grandma Sands had looked like a troll. When grandma Sands came out,she really looked like that she had wrinkles all over her,she was really skinny, and that she had a cane because, she had a stroke once.
ReplyDeletein responce to jthomkins i think what happend to you at that party must of been alfull.your lucky that you got up!
ReplyDeleteIm responding to J.Bragdon. Its really cool how you can relate to your own life and i know your not lieing because you tell me about it during chorus. :)
ReplyDeletein responce to khammel i tottaly agree.
ReplyDeleteIm responding to J.Bragdon. Its really cool how you can relate to your own life and i know your not lieing because you tell me about it during chorus:)
ReplyDeletein responce to aparone,i think i would of drawn the sane thing.also from the sound of what they say in the story she is real old.i think that the autor gave good discription and it gave me a good picture.
ReplyDeleteIn response to J.Thompkins.when I was in Michigan and it was the summer time and my family and I were in a pool,my brother started to hang on me,and I started to drown so,I flew backwards to make him drown
ReplyDelete
